Overview
Since its establishment in 1996, the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) has earned much recognition as Australia’s leading educator for the Computer Game Development and 3D Digital industries. AIE has grown significantly in the past 10 years and now has campuses in Melbourne and Canberra.
AIE continues to contribute to the development of the Games and interactive industries in Australia, as an active founding member of the Australian Game Developers Association, and is involved in consulting both government and other education institutions on policy and content. In 1999, AIE initiated the Australian Games Developers Conference and in 2005, organised Australia’s first academic and secondary schools summits on games education.
From Certificate II through to Advanced Diploma qualifications, AIE provides cutting edge, hands-on training, that is nationally accredited and recognised through the Australian Qualifications Framework. Our graduates continue to be instrumental in building the games, interactive entertainment and related industries in Australia and can be found working in some of the world’s fastest growing CGI industries. Our current students often find that their job interviews are conducted by another AIE graduate.
Adding to its unique industry links and enviable employment record, AIE is at the forefront of educational practice in Australia winning numerous state & national training awards. It further pioneered our region’s first Women in Games Programs, the first national interactive games scholarship with the Sony Foundation, the first Australian public/private education 3D training pathway and the first Advanced Diploma in Games education involving work placement.
AIE training is characterised by:
- Long established, close industry links and genuine industry expertise.
- High levels of graduate employment and student satisfaction
- Specialised industry specific training with a focus on portfolio development and experience
- Flexible pathways to university and employment
- A creative, studio learning experience where students are mentored as they build their own games, film and CGI products. [Check out our gallery section to view examples of students works]
