Course Description
Offered by AIE in partnership with the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), the Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) (Basic 3D Animation) is designed to introduce students to the many career opportunities available for 3D artists, animators and designers.
Modules of study introduce students to the fundamentals of 3D animation including Basic Modelling, Texturing, 3D Graphics, Lighting and Atmospheric Effects and Character Animation. This course allows students to gain an understanding of the uses and architecture of 3D Studio Max, one of the most widely used animation packages in industry. It further gives participants an understanding of skills and techniques necessary to create and render 3D animations.
The Certificate II concludes in an intensive production unit wherein students will work together to produce a short animated film. Students start by planning their animation with concept art and storyboards, modelling and animating their designs throughout the production process and finish by compositing sound/ music and special FX into the final product.
The Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) (Basic 3D Animation) serves as a valuable bridge to further study in 3D animation, including 3D animation for games or film. Graduates of the Certificate II in Basic 3D Electronic Animation are also equipped with broad skills and portfolio of skills and work useful in many other multimedia/design areas.
